mpicillin provides broad coverage; cloxacillin adds anti-staphylococcal activity. Useful for mixed infections and where staphylococcal coverage is desired.

Advantages and Disadvantages:

Advantages: Broader spectrum than single penicillin, useful for staph infections. Disadvantages: Allergy risk, GI upset, possible resistance; not suitable for MRSA.

Usage:

Skin/soft tissue infections, respiratory infections with staph suspicion, mixed infections.
